I promise, I did not create the name for these; therefore, it is also obvious that this recipe is not a result of my trial and error (but rather, a result of my ENDLESS amount of internet browsing). Anyone feel like venturing a guess as to how these INSANELY DELICIOUS little slices of PURE INDULGENCE got their name? Scroll to the end for the answer {whoah, whoah… not yet. srsly?} Anyway, I’ve been a little lax on picture taking throughout my dessert ventures…life these days tends to move like a treadmill whose “increase speed button” is stuck… but in a good way. You may also note that some of my recent recipes are using pre-made components. During any other time, that would go against my religion, primarily because baking for me is a total escape…a stress reliever. Unfortunately for those in my household, washing dishes is not. The longer I bake, the less I do chores… am I making myself clear here? However, the tide is shifting a bit and as life clips along, I’ve learned that accepting a little kick-start from pre-made materials works sometimes… this my loves, is one of those times.
This is another one of my “assembly” based desserts… and let me tell you – you best assemble this with a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream when you serve. “Holy Cannoli” as my oldest would belt out… you may think that this is not great for your waistline, but I can assure you: This is a MIRACLE for your soul.
One more note… most recipes call for these to be made and sliced in true brownie fashion. I opt for the cake. Make this in a springform pan and bring on a cake plate with confectioner’s sugar dusted on top. I’ll mention again: dusting confectioner’s sugar on any dessert will automatically make it look MUCH better. Great job – you just took this from lame-o brownies, to fancy cake. sort of. but go with it.
Slutty Brownie Cake
ingredients.
- Bag/box of chocolate chip cookie mix.
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil.
- Whatever ingredients that box/bag calls for.
- Bag of oreo cookies (go wild with Double Stuff if you’ve had a particularly bad day… or get yourself a bottle of wine for that…or both)
- Bag/box of brownie mix.
- Whatever ingredients that box/bag calls for.
directions.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Prepare the cookie mix.
- Add in that extra tbsp of oil. (the cookies are going to cook longer than they typically call for… the oil will help with moisture).
- In a separate bowl, prepare the brownie mix.
- Grease any type of pan that floats your boat… non-stick spray works just fine.
- Time to bring in the kids, or make this yourself so you don’t have to share the oreos.
- Press the cookie mix into an even layer in the bottom of the pan.
- Next, arrange the oreo cookies of the cookie dough in a single layer.
- Cover with brownie mix.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes.
notes:
- much like women, these get better with a little bit of age (we do, right?! pat yourself on the back… you deserve it). although you can eat right away, i let them cool, then refrigerate overnight and heat in the oven for about 15 minutes at approx. 150-200 degrees right before serving. you would NOT want to miss out on the ooey/gooey factor of this gem.
- as I mentioned before, you can slice and serve like brownies. i however, think the cake slice makes me feel more fancy…. while i sit in my fat-girl sweatpants and enjoy the night away.
- why are they called slutty brownies? they are easy, dirty and full of sin.
